I pull a 10' wheel disk behind a Farmall 460 (45 drawbar HP). This is my first season of running this combination, and the 10' disk is a great match for the 460. The tractor runs this disk comfortably with the disk wheels full up. Going up a grade will make the 460 bark, and I have to cheat a little by putting the wheels down. The trick to disking in my opinion is not in bragging rights--that is to say how wide a disk you can pull. Proper disking requires a decent amount of ground speed so that the coulters are not only cutting but are casting dirt, too. I'd much rather run in 3rd gear with a 10' disk than in 2nd with a 12' disk. More gets done on less fuel. I better match for your 800 is an 8' disk.
