I know enough to get by. Although I've been a grease-monkey for much of my life, I also worked for a well drilling company. I don't know why you'd want to, or what possible gain would be gotten from changing your mount. If the jet is part of your pump, or bolted to your pump, it is only capapble of drawing water 30 feet down - and I don't think it will make any difference which way it is pointing. Same goes for a deep well jet. The difference is, with the deep well jet, the jet is actually put IN the well - so you can stick it 50 feet down, and it's still capable of drawing from 30' beyond that point, so the total is 80'. Once you go beyond that point, though, they're very inefficient. By the way, there are specialty submersible pumps availble for small well casings. Take a look at the Sears website for convertible jet waterpump rated for 90 feet at: http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=SEARS&pid=04225228000&sid=I0008300030000100085

They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point
