I too recommend draining all gas from the fuel system and replacing with fresh gas. "Modern" gas has a shelf life of about 30 days before beginning to detiorate according to the refinery data. The 6V system will perform just as well as a 12V system, assuming proper maintence is performed, and parts used, per mfgrs schedule. You've already stated the starting circuit is working well, this indicates either the secondary electrical circuit, stuck valves, and/or fuel system are the problem. It's easy to determine if the spark plugs are firing. Remove a plug, reconnect the wire and lay the plug on a bare metal spot on the block. Crank the starter and observe the plug for a fat, blue spark. The suggestion to run a compression check is important to determine if there is a compression leak [stuck valve(s)], and/or stuck rings. Keep us informed of your progress if you wish.
