You say you're partial to green or blue? Did you ever consider Prarie Gold? Many models were made not too many miles from your new adress in the Twin Cities. Depending on how much your wife is into nostalgia, this might work to your advantage! Mine says that the Model "R" is a cute little tractor. For what you have this might be a good one or even better, a model "U". The engines in the U's are almost bulletproof and start VERY easily in the cold. I'm from North-Western Wisconsin and the motor in our Minneapolis-Moline M5 (which is the same as a U)starts any day of the year. As for the buying issue- I would attend a few auctions in the area-there shouldn't be any shortage of them this time of year. Look for the ones that have the size tractors you are interested in and just see what they are going for. Time spent at an auction is never a bad thing!! I wouldn't reccomend a diesel. For the amount of acreage you have and the cold weater, it just isn't worth the little money that you save on fuel. Go with the Gold, have something a little different!
