I have a '92 W250 w/ cummins/5 speed. I have only 170,000 miles on mine, but they are hard miles. I only put on about 10,000 a year. Below 30 degrees I keep it plugged in, mainly for the above reason. Starting is never a problem. Been on snowmobiling vacations in Old Forge NY, and Rangley ME and had to start the truck in 25 below w/o block heater. A little stumble and some smoke at first, but always started. I do however keep it properly maintained. I change oil and filter every 3 months, grease the chassis as often, and fuel and air filter once a year. I use only Shell Rotella 15W-40 diesel oil, and good fuel, not heating oil. I have never had any problems with my steering box, but I have read about this problem in 1994 and newer Dodges. The steering box tears itself out of the frame due to a lack of "meat" to mount it to. Someone (the name escapes me) does make a kit to correct this problem. My Dodge has never had an alignment and the tires wear perfect. I run Good Year Workhorse Extra Grip tires and they work excellent on this truck for my use, and they are relativly inexpensive. If you run a lot of miles, or especially hwy miles, they would not be too good. I have had to replace the king pins (yes... king pins, NOT ball joints!) once. The only problem I have currently is rust and the rear main seal is leaking badly in the engine. I will fix this when I tear it down for a complete paint/body O.H. soon. I bought the truck 2nd hand in 1997. It came from NH and had a lot of rust on the chassis. Sorry this is a little long winded, but I really like this truck and wanted you offer all I could. In my opinion these (1993 and older) were the last of the real pick-ups, and certainly the last of the real Dodges.
