As for popular brands! John Deere, Case-IH, & the AGCO.
Normally when a company tells You what the most popular are; They tell You in a certain size, or class catagory. (ex: John Deere probably sells more lawn mowers than farm tractors! But A farmers running a 3000 acre farm doesnt care squat about a mower. All they want to know is about the 200hp + line of tractors) I would try contacting the manufactures for specific information rather than guess! Your reputation may be at stake.

Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
