i think we are in the same boat. i bought an old dearborn corn planter for $75 to plant sunflowers for a dove field. it came with a set of corn plates. i tried lincolnagproducts, ford agricultural dealerships, etc etc. the plates are obsolete. i was able to buy some on ebay, but took several months. the corn plates would hold 4-6 sunflower seeds in each cell. so i filled them in with an epoxy putty that you can get at walmart (comes in a tube, you cut off the ends then knead the putty to mix it). then i used a dremel tool to make desired openings in the dried epoxy putty. it's not perfect but it's pretty close. it works for me.
