Either one could handle the jobs you describe. Both have a trip bucket, similar hydraulic systems, so if you want to convert either one to a more modern system with hydraulic bucket and independent hydraulics, the cost is about the same. Granted, the D14 is worth more, but so is the original cost higher. And that third gear repair means $$$$$$$$$$ and a tractor split. Resale value is immaterial- you are buying a tractor to use, not resell. Both of them are at the age where resale is about the value of what you pay now. The WD is ready to work, to renew the D14 to work, you'll likely spend a grand or so extra, depending how handy you are on repairs. For the price, I'd go with the WD.
