IH T340 low oil pressure

After a frozen block mishap, I replaced my 135 c.i. gas engine with a short block. Also replaced my oil pressure gauge. Now it has 50 psi on starting, but drops to <10 psi at idle when warmed up. Revved up it comes up to about 30 psi when warm. Since my gauge wasn't working before, I don't know if I should worry about low pressure? Thanks,
