Hey Shep; The troubles we had with Gateway was the people in the store (closest was Macon Ga. 60 miles away) was that no body knew what to do except to sell you another machine. We had trouble from day it was recieved with on again off again sound, argued with service mgr, even took it back and they said it was o.k. because they tried it once and it played a music C.D. Gateway them selves posted a patch for it on their website 6 mo. later and the svc manager still knew nothing about it. the next problem was very amusing. Wife also has a gateway laptop to use with embrodiery/sewing projects she does. When she asked why the lap top could connect to the internet faster than the desk top model, the svc. mgrs. answer was," the wires from the laptop keyboard to the modem were shorter than the desk top and that made it faster". He was serious about thatI suppose because he never offered another answer . The store service dept.people told us they could not hook it to the internet to test modem speed or anything like that because they only had one hook up in the store and they didn't know how to disconnect or connect it! Called Gateway tech support, and after a 2-1/2 hr session with them, they sent a new motherboard and modem and it ran better then. Can't say I'll miss the retail store they closed. Local Electric Membership Cooperativce is now a Gateway ordering station, so I will watch the outcome before I buy again. They usually hold a mfgrs feet to the fire if there is a problem they soon drop them. They sell appliances in 10 counties as well as electricity and have a great sales and service dealings. The sorriest piece of hardware we ever wasted money on is a Linksys wireless networking networking systems, it never worked more than a few days with out problems. It was more trouble than it was worth, sorry I didn't run cables in the wall for networking at remodeling trime. Guess I'll wind up doing that now.

Old Time Threshing - by Anthony West. A lovely harvest evening late September 1947, I was a school boy, like all school boys I loved harvest time. The golden corn ripens well and early, the stoking, stacking,.... the drawing in with the tractors and trailers and a few buck rakes thrown in, and possibly a heavy horse. It would be a great day for the collies and the terrier dogs, rats and mice would be at the bottom of the stacks so the dogs, would have a busy time hunting and killing, all the corn was gathered and ricked in what we c
