Help with Farmall A serial number

I just purchased my grandfather's old Farmall A
from my uncle's estate and wanted to find out what
year it was made (my mom & dad have different
recollections). The serial number is FAA 129173
which, based on one guide I saw meant it was built
in 1946. However, I was looking at the Tractor
Registry and they have serial numbers all over the
place for different years so now I'm totally
confused. Any help here would be greatly
appreciated.
