ford dealership parts man here. the tranny and t-case call for straight mercon. look at the tags on the axles. they could be either dana or ford. if the tag reads like D 203 H or something like it, it is a dana....ignore the f77a ab number.either way it doesn't really matter because they all take the same fluid. factory calls for 75W140 synthetic, only available from a ford dealer, but there are TSB's out that if you do alot of heavy pulling to drop back to 75W90 syn. one other thing is if you have a locking rear end then you also need friction modifier. it helps the clutch packs. with out the friction modifier you will develope a nasty chatter when turning and wipe out the rear end.
