Haybine question

I just bought a 9" New Holland haybine. This is the first one I ever owned and never ran one before. I normally use a sickle mower and conditioner behind my IH H. I usually start cutting the field with my sickle in a counter-clockwise motion to cut the edges and then reverse and go in the correct direction to finish the field. The question I have is can I also do this with the haybine? What is the best way to start a field? Tom
