Dieselman: I think both of you are right close. I have an old Dodge 318 that has some loose seals and blowby gets into the distributor cap and I use acetone and a clean solder brush to flush the oil\dirt film off.. Runs great again 4 6 months or untill the temp gets near 32 degrees again. The dirty cap draws moisture\rust easier than a clean cap. Acetone is cheep in any hardware store and is a common electrical cleaner to use in this case.... yes I'll someday fix it Harvey
