Thanks for the help, everyone. Okay, I opened up the starter and checked the brushes. They don't look too bad...there's still contact, but I might try replacing them. Here's my new problem...after putting the starter back together, I now have contact between the 12v+ cable and the body of the starter. If I connect one end of a continuity tester to the cable and put the other end of the tester on the body, it reads positive. I actually found this out by connecting the positive lead to the battery and grounding the starter...some nice sparks. See the link below for reference. Thanks again.
