Yeah Bus Driver - there's 2 variations of that 14 HP, 2 cyl Wisconsin: The THD has both crank pins on the same side and is even firing. The TJD on the other hand has the pins on opposite sides of the crank so it "skip fires" (and sounds) just like like a little 2 cylinder Deere. (My apologies if I have the model designations reversed - it's been a while!)

Anyway aside from the crank, cam and distributor (or magneto...) I believe the two engines are mechanically identical.

The even firing engine has minimal pulsation in shaft speed so it's good for generators (in order to minimize flickering of lights). The skip firing engine however vibrates less since the two pistons alway travelling in opposite directions tend to cancel much of the vertical vibration. It does however have significantly more output shaft pulsation.

They're tough old motors!!
