You COULD swap the axles--just about anything is doable, but, in my opinion, the axle that is currently under your 450 is not near enough iron to adequately work under the 806. The -06 series was, in part, built to put to rest the bad reps the 460 and 560 earned during their teething years with respect to drive train reliability. The IH engineers were told to "build 'em hell for stout", or something to that effect. My neighbor has an 806D, and I'm always impressed with how much iron is in that beast. You could drop it from 5000 feet, and I don't think you would break it. So, just my 2 cents worth, the 450 axle would look a bit spindly beneath the 806. To each his own. Personally, I would keep the narrow front configuration on the 806. Someone else will have to chip in with information on this, but I don't think that many 806 narrow fronts were built, so I'm thinking the 806 you're looking at could be somewhat of a rarity--don't know for sure, however.
