I can get a water pump for my 1940 Ford 9N for about $40 from a large number of places. I rebuilt the whole tractor using parts bought over the Internet. Until recently I owned a Massey-Ferguson 205-4 tractor. This was a Hinomoto 18D with a Toyosha engine, made for rice farming in Japan, and imported and rebadged by MF back in the late 70s. It was a nice little tractor, more capable in many ways than the 9N despite having only 18 HP. Both Hinomoto and Toyosha have long since gone out of business. Parts are still somewhat available from AGCO. But the prices are breathtaking to say the least. When the water pump impeller recently broke in half, I had to drive to a place that would sell me AGCO parts, struggle for 45 minutes to find the part in the catalog, found that the cost was $300 and I was lucky to get the part. When I bought the (used) tractor years ago I thought I was avoiding this problem by buying a "Massey Ferguson" instead of a Belarus or Kioti or whatever. Just goes to show -- use caution whatever the name on the grille.

I’d probably plowed about 3000 acres (in my head anyway) by the time they found me. This is where my love for tractors started and has only gotten worse in my tender 50 yrs on this “green planet”. I’m par
