8n serial number

I am trying to find the serial number on my 8n. The man I bought it from said it was a 51 and it does have a side mount disrtibutor. But it also has about fifity layers of paint on the engine block. The only markings I can make out say 8n-C. Any help would be welcome. Thanks.
