FIRST OF ALL, MAKE SURE THAT THE TRACTOR IS ALL THERE.SOMETIMES WHEN ONE IS NOT RUNNING, PARTS SEEM TO WALK OFF. THEY CAN BE PARTS THAT ARE EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE. RADIATOR,CARB. MAG., ETC. UNLESS THE TIN IS RUSTED OUT, IT CAN USUALLY BE REPAIRED AND MADE TO LOOK GOOD.IF YOU CAN, CHECK THE DIPSTICK, OR THE OIL DRAIN PLUG FOR SIGNS OF WATER IN THE OIL. IF SO THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE THE BLOCK MAY BE CRACKED.I WOULD SAY IF THE TRACTOR IS IN THE CONDITION YOU SAY, $1000.00 WOULDN,T BE A BAD BUY. ESPECIALLY IF IT IS CLOSE TO YOU. YOU MAY BE ABLE TO BUY ONE CHEAPER, BUT IF IS IS VERY FAR AWAY, YOU MAY BE LOOKING AT A BIG EXPENSE GETTING IT HOME. GOOD LUCK. HOPE YOU GET IT. FRANK
