I'd disconnect the coil HEI wire or else ground the magneto and crank it over with the ignition disconnected for several extended bursts 15 sec each. The rationale here is that the oil pump will prime the system and start to lube the bearings before any significant combustion loads are placed on the crank, valvetrain, etc. You may wish to have the battery charger handy!
