Gene, I was on the 4000 and got so fed up I dropped it. I had no other option for broadband but satellite and when the 6000 came out I went with it. Like was said - it is a stand alone unit that does not use the PC to operate. It does not have to co-exist with windows or other hardware so it is much more reliable. If it locks up, just unplug and it reboots. If there are software updates for it they will download directly to it. It is NIC based so it plugs into a hub/switch and can be easily shared by multiple PC's. I have a Netgear wireless port plugged into the hub and I can use my laptop anywhere with 100' of the house. THE BIG PROBLEM IS THE LATENCY! When you click on something it appears to sit there and look at you for a few seconds while it transmits up to the satellite before it does anything - but when the data starts back it is pretty quick. I just ran a bandwidth test and got: 555kbps - I have gotten as high as 1755kbps. I wish I had access to a cable modem and would consider DSL but it will be years if at all that they would be available in my area. I would recommend it if you have no other option for broadband! Good Luck! ChuckG

12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
