I drove a truck cross-country for ten years. I could see I had to get out of it or someone was going to die. I just never could get enough sleep. The companies can't stand for a truck to set still. Even when we could sleep, it wasn't quality sleep, because you froze in the winter and suffocated in the summer. (No idling those engines, that costs money.) It's never going to get any safer for the public or more rewarding for the drivers until they start paying drivers by the hour and quit treating them like third-world slaves. Thanks to all the drivers. I wouldn't have clothes to wear or food to eat if not for you, but I'm sorry I wasted so much of my life driving.
