I tend to disagree mostly, but kind of see where you're coming from. Had the kid had the proper tools and quickly fixed the problem, and then Shep had the cojones to try to negotiate the price down, that would be wrong. But to send a "tire truck" out without the tools to remove a pickup tire when those trucks are expected to go out and change SEMI tires on the roadside is simply ridiculous. And to further exacerbate the situation by repeatedly returning to the shop to get the right tools and coming back with yet more junk would put just about anybody over the edge. As a JD service tech that works on a lot of iron out in the middle of corn fields and other distant places, I take what I think I'm going to need and usually stuff I don't think I'll need to avoid situations like this. I just wonder how many guys drove right by that DID have a good 4-way or 1/2-inch socket set but didn't stop because they figured the "tire guy" had the situation under control. I also question whether the $100 in cash made it to the till or into the pockets of the two employees in question.
