I feel for you, but I have to admit that I was LMAO by the end of the tale. That's just one of those stories that has to be true, because no one could make up a better one. With the factory tools and a 4-way, I'd say you were about as well-prepared as a lot of the guys on here and better-prepared than most. And no, you wouldn't expect a blowout on a 20,000 mile tire, particularly a quality one like a BFG. The gist I get is that you weren't all that upset about the trailer tire, but rather the pickup debacle, correct? If you do a lot of driving and hauling, a tool you should really consider is a heavy-duty 1/2-drive cordless impact. My 18-volt Snap-On will bust a lot of bolts and nuts loose that most air impacts won't, and it makes roadside flat repairs a walk in the park. Granted, they're not cheap, but they are nice to have.
