Joe; We've used them in industry for quite a few years. They are a valuable tool, like any tool it must be used properly to get the full value out of it. Not knowing what make model you have I can only say that the one's I've worked with had to be "calibrated" for the surface you are trying to read; or they can be way out of the ballpark for an accuracy reading. Yet at the same time be useful for relative indications. ( The header temp variations pointing to a combustion problem in a cylinder.) You may be able to get on line and find some info on yours. I saw them at the Fastener store for about what you paid. Like all electronics, prices are coming down fast. Now I wounder, if I can point it at the cat and know when she's coming in to season??
