John follow everything Paul says except fot the vise grips.Channel lock has a wrench out called the nut buster.The way the wrench is designed the more you pull the tighter the wrench gets.You can also get it at sears but i forget what they call it.The wrench is about $20.00 and it works very well for your problem.
