Watch the radiator level closely. If you appear to be loosing some coolant, that blowby MIGHT actually be steam coming out of the breather tube. Poor coolant upkeep can cause an "acid" condition to form in the coolant. That leads to a further problem known as "electralisis" (SP) The acid in the coolant, combined with dirt particles in the cooling system will erode the base of the cylinder sleeves, causing small pinholes in said sleeve. The holes won't allow the cooling system to pressurize. Also, without coolant, the sending unit doesn't show the engine warming up. In actuality, it is OVERHEATING.
Might not be your problem, but a tractor I bought last year had just the same symtoms you described, and had two holes in a sleeve. Very "fixable" if caught soon enough. John
