We bought a 2001 Tarus in 2002. There was a brand new 2002 on the lot. The only major differences I could find in the two was the used one had 29,000 miles on it, leather seats, a tiny scratch on the dash, and it had been farted in twice. It was in a line with the program cars - but it was a local trade. We bought the used one for almost exactly $10,000 less than the sticker on the new one. I say each deal is different and it pays to shop around. Otherwise, they would package the new ones in boxes with the price written in 'em and that's what you'd give at the counter. Auto sales is structured to allow hagglin. The ones who haggle best, get the best deal. I'd venture to say that 80% of car shoppers are not good hagglers. Mitch

I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
