I"ve never owned a new vehicle, and I never will--I"d much rather let someone else pay for the initial depreciation and give it a "shake-down cruise". By the time I buy a vehicle it has proven itself to be reliable. Most vehicles I buy are ones that I know the history on, and so I know what"s been done to it and have some idea of how it has been driven and maintained. Also, this way you get around the problems with new vehicle "teething pains" and initial quality problems with a new model. I"ve never had a vehicle payment or set foot on a dealer"s lot--I buy all my rigs cash and from individuals. So far, it"s treated me well--nearly any vehicle these days should go 100,000+ miles without major repairs, and if you do regular preventative maintenace and don"t abuse your rigs, there"s no reason to take the initial depreciation hit of a new vehicle.
