Kevin, both the Allis "B" and the Farmall "A" are nice project tractors. not knowing the condition of either tractor, I would say that probably if you need replacement parts that the Farmall "A" would have a better parts supply. They have just about the same HP, but while the Allis may have 1 or 2 more HP, the Farmall "A" has better gear selection since it is a 4 speed as opposed to a 3 speed in the Allis "B" The Farmall "A" as you know is an offset configuration which is different from the Allis but makes it a great tractor for cultivating as well as snow removal. Neither have hydraulics unless it woulld be a super "A". New rear tires are approximately $115.00 each plus mounting. Fronts are approximately $40.00 each plus mounting, and both the Allis "B" and the Farmall "A" take the same size tires. I think ultimately it comes down to what you think you would be most comfortable with. As to the carburetor needing choked to stay running, that is a cheap fix if thats all it is, and I cant see that symptom being anything other than the carb, or fuel restriction. The prices you state are reasonable for either tractor providing they both have strong engines, and the sheet metal is in decent shape. Needing a paint job is the least of your problems.
