CBBC, Bushels per acre is only an initial measuring stick. Test weight and moisture content then determines what a bushel will actually weigh. After that the bushel is rated downward for foreign material such as chaffe, weeds, pods, cobs, etc. Then wheat and some other grains are rated downward from that depending on the level of vomatoxin, and other diseases or fungi. Each load is tested at the elevator, and the weigh slips reflect all the pertinent variables. The price paid per bushel is paid against the established contract standard when all the variables are factored.
