Can too much weight ruin my hydraulics?

I have a MF 50 in real good shape. I recently bought a 3 pt hitch stinger or liftpole to go on the back and last evening I was loading logs onto a low trailer to get them out without skidding through the spring mud. The logs were heavy maple and I realized I was forcing the hydraulics even thought they got the job done. How much weight can I put on the back without ruining the hydraulics? Are they really only made to raise and lower regular farm equipment? This is the first time I started to realize that maybe you can't just hitch onto whatever won't take the front end off the ground (which did happen a bit with the logs)
