We've got a 4640 with the same problem. once it gets below 40 degrees, we better have it sitting where we want it to sit for the rest of the winter. I wouldn't cry too long if that tractor rolled into a ditch and caught fire. Our 4430 starts well if we use the same procedure as Doug. The 4020 is the best starter we have. Doesn't need ether or plugged in until we hit 0 degrees. 'course it's also the coldest to drive at that temp... I enever understood why our 1086 w/1486 engine was better at starting than the Deeres. Now if we could keep from blowing up the engine every 500 hours and from messing up the TA every 1000, it might be a likable tractor. Guess you could build a 40X60 heated shop to keep it in... Let me know where you are so I can try out this shop when it's done. I'll do a few projects in it to see if it meets my approval.

Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
