Are you sure it says 80w-140w and not 80w-140? Usual convention is a cold- followed by a hot rating, so unless the oil you have seen actually has two SAE viscosity values at the same time....it will be rated as 80 when cold (w rating) and 140 when hot. Too heavy an oil will have a lower pour point and will not behave as a lubricant at low temps, so you may not gain anything - you may well need even thicker oil to stop the noise in the short term RAB
