I'm sure there will be dissagreement but as it seems you are relatively new to the tractor thang I think my advice to you would be to look around at your neighbors and see what they are running and what makes'models you can get service and parts for localy. The cheapest machine is no good if you can't get parts. Here JD and Case IH. Forty miles from here and it is Allis and IH sixty miles and Ford is king. If you have a good friend with a tractor ask him... you may be bugging him to help you fix what you have one day. In the Allis line I don't think anyone can go wrong with a D-17 Still cheap and live power too. IH 560s are a dime a doz and great machines. JD (all way to pricy but good machines) 4020. These are a littlle bigger than you talked of but if you are only wanting one tractor to do everything including mow, these most fit the bill and are modern enough to be handy and still are (except for the green ones) affordable. Power steering is very nice to have when mowing. So goes my 2c
