Hi Todd, That's a nasty problem you have there. I think if you have access to another housing for a good price, that may be your best route. If you decide to weld, it can certainly be done. That said, the major problem with welding cast is distrotion and the brittleness of the cast. Cast needs to be pre-heated to (I think) 450 F. If you weld cold cast, the quick temp rise, and eventual decrease will simply cause the casting to crack in a new place and a new direction. Generally, something that size would need to be broken down, prepped and placed in an oven to get it up to temp, and then welded in a normal manner. I have had good success using Sodel 35's for most of my cast projects, although I haven't welded any tranny's. You would need to get a good idea of the composition of the transmission, and find the appropiate rod. Mabey some of the others mentioned below are correct. I will tell you for certain, if you can't do the pre-heat, then don't waste your time. It WILL crack again when it cools. My 2c, for what it's worth. Take care. Rod
