Service is done by removing the front distributor and doing everything on a workbench. It is quite easy. The dist is connected to the end of the cam shaft by a pair of offset paws. Just remove the two screws and the dist comes right off. Be careful when assembling to get the paws lined up, it only goes in one way. If you force it, things start to break.
