My personal feeling is that we will be split until the people who voted for the "runner-up" start saying "let"s put this all behind us and unite this land" also. The winner, however well-meaning, just doesn"t inspire those who disagree with him to get behind him. Some of it might be the fact that he only seems to identify with those who share his idealogical views.
If he would just start to admit (just a little) that others have valid views, healing might start to catch on. Until then, it will be more of the same.
