I bought a 5 hp lawn mower from sears that did that. It had been returned for this problem, the service department could not find anything wrong with it, so they put it back out on the sales floor, for half the price since it was technically used. The service department never actually tried cutting grass with it, so they never got it really warmed up. What happened is that the kill switch was not adjusted very good, and it was almost ready to kill the engine when it was in the run position. When the engine warmed up, the heat made things bend just enough to kill the engine. After 5 minutes or so, it would cool down, the bracket would move a bit, and it could be started again.
