Whatever method you use to charge the accessory battery put an automatic timer in the charge circuit. I put one on EVERY accessory plug. They are programable timers that disconnect the accessory from the vehicle battery after a preset time. The one is use most often is: Charge Gaurd model CG12D. It is rated at 30 amps continuous and the timer is adjustable from 15 minutes to 15 hours. Cost from Tessco is $50. This really makes a difference when you want Radio, Telephone, ect not to run down your battery. The timer resets when vehicle switch is turned on, then disconnects power at a preset time after vehicle switch is turned off.
