Have a Ferg 30, was hard to start for years, (weak spark) changed ingition parts (coil, points, wires, etc.) and tuned many times. Also considered 12v conversion. Still hard to start!!! The cure was $17.00, Spark plug wires (many new sets) were of the modern resistor type. 6V ignition system voltage too low for this type of wire. Changed to old steel, (none resistor), Had to ask for then at NAPA parts store) Tractor now starts like new. only took 10 years to solve this. Hope this helps.
