There are probably as many different answers to this question as there are people on this board. I would ask the contractor, as he is the one that needs to make time baleing. You're paying the bill, so you don't want to waste his time. It also depends on what type of rake you are using, and what type of baler. I have a rotary rake with center delivery, and bale with a round baler. My preference is to simply start in a corner and drive clockwise around the field in one continous row until I hit the center. Sometimes I miss some on the corners, but it's of little consequence to me for the time it takes to gather it up. One thing I will guarntee you, that is the fastest way to clean off a field. Again, speak to your contractor. There is nothing I hate more than trying to bale somebody else's mess. I've seen 5 hour jobs turned into 10 hour jobs because of the rake. Take care.
