Hay thieves...big brother is watching!

A few weeks ago, I posted a question about ID'ing big round bales to curb theft. I never thought of this!
Just today our local news carried the report about a local farmer here in NE SD that was continuing to lose big round bales. The county Sheriff had investigated for 5 months without uncovering any leads. The Sheriff then asked the State Game Fish and Parks Department to help...which they did. They placed Canadian Goose radio tracking collars in a few of the remaining bales.
Sure enough, the bales disappeared. The state then used an airplane to track the bales (95 total) to a farm in ND. After a court appearance, the thief pleaded guilty and was charged $5000 + $800 for tracking costs.
This may be the new age of farming in the 21st. century...George Orwell predictions coming true. Must work!
