There is nothing in an oli 88 that should
make the sleeves hard to pull , the only thing
holding are two small orings at the bottom.
Sounds like your puller leg is standing on the
sleeve flange or the plate at the bottom is too
big and is wedged in the block. Keep the welder
away from those sleeves , they are cast iron
wet sleeves and welding on them will do no good
as well as a good chance of arcing on the
crankshaft.
Engine is a waukesha 190 DLB , I have one
apart in the shop now.
