Do you have the mag or the distributor later conversion? If mag electrical system will have nothing to do with starting, if distributor you may not have it wired corectly. Mag will have just one wire from it to switch and switch grounds when pushed in to kill the tractor, distributor switch will have 2 wires and does NOT ground.
