Howdy brian, Well, it's a pretty long story but I didn't really get so tightly bound to my grandpa's farm until after his death in '02. Of course by that time I was halfway through college. I was on my way to a degree (which I now have) in weather forecasting. Then I got so darned connected to it that I've had nothing but internal fights with myself since graduating back in June. Then there's my folks, bless their hearts. I'm the last in the family and the only one who seems to have hopes of makin somethin of myself and finally giving them some sense of accomplishment as parents. I'm a Christian and I take that honor your parents thing seriously. So it is a big complex mess for me. I never did all the farming. Before grandad passed on he had already had a neighbor leasing most of it. I just butted in more and more over my college years. I travelled 200 miles each weekend down and up in order to do farm work. But the line of work I've chosen requires a move. I want to work for one of those private forecasting places that do stuff for power companies, shipping firms, etc. and none of them are remotely close to Southern Ohio. I mean, c'mon we have an unemployment rating of 2nd in the state I believe. There's nothing here but a couple of poor farmers and welfare. It's like I said, complex. So I just pray for the Lord to lead me where he wants and hope to someday be able to farm that land as my grandpa did. I do restorations so it would only take money and time to have that place back in shape. Just don't know. A lot for a young pup of 23 to worry about ain't it? God bless. --old fashioned farmer

When Push Comes to Shove - by Dave Patterson. When I was a “kid” (still am to a deree) about two I guess, my parents couldn’t find me one day. They were horrified (we lived by the railroad), my mother thought the worst: "He’s been run over by a train, he’s gone forever!" Where did they find me? Perched up on the seat of the tractor. I’d probably plowed about 3000 acres (in my head anyway) by the time they found me. This is where my love for tractors started and has only gotten worse in my tender 50 yrs on this “green planet”. I’m par
