What kind of tractor you working on? The main difference is that one is probably a Delco Remy and the other a Ford system. On the Delco, ground the field circuit; on the other, you feed the field circuit, which is grounded internally. If the commutator is in good shape and as slow as these old things turn, brushes will last for many, many years. Allan
