I've got a '98 Chevy K3500, single rears with the Vortec 454 (7.4, auto tranny I like, and I had my doubts, but has been good so far(I have this truck for 1 year today as a matter of fact) Good pulling truck for me...I don't need a diesel...$$$
I will say this...be prepared to feed that horse! I've only made 1 longer trip with it and I got 14 mpg normal driving I'd guess 12 or so...tote around 12-14k lbs and watch the guage drop. Yes it will handle more, but thats what I tend to haul.
