It was -44°C (-46°F) here just last night. Oh BTW, I do weather observation as part of my job, and the thermometer used to record the maximum temp for the day is still filled with mercury. They are way expensive and have to shipped as hazardous material. The minimum one is red alcohol. I've recorded -49°C. And stood on a forebay deck adjusting spillgates in a 100km (62mph) wind in that temperature, when each of 7 gates took 20 minutes to raise. The spray produced is like tiny needles at the best of times, but at that temp, it is truly enough to make one search for another job!
